Use a template to trace and cut petal shapes from crepe paper or cardstock. For a rose you need about 25 petals: 5 small inner petals, 10 medium, and 10 large outer petals. Cut leaves separately from green paper.
Hold a petal between your thumbs and gently stretch the centre to create a natural cup shape. For crepe paper, lightly curl the top edge backward over a pencil. Repeat for all petals.
Roll a small piece of yellow tissue paper into a tight ball and attach to the end of a floral wire using floral tape. This becomes the stamens.
Starting with the small inner petals, wrap and tape each petal around the centre, overlapping and rotating as you go. Work outward through the medium and large petals. Floral tape stretches — pull it slightly as you wrap.
Attach wire-stem leaves below the flower head with floral tape. Bend the stem gently to shape. Arrange multiple flowers in a vase or wrap stems together for a bouquet.
